　　The gap between age of parents and children today is increasingly larger than it used to be. To me, this trend seems to have both advantages and drawbacks in equal measure.
　　On the one hand, a wider age gap between generations might lead to some problems. The most frequently mentioned apprehension lays emphasis on the physical stamina of older couples in dealing with children. It is undeniable that rearing a child is an exhausting task that frustrates many adults, which requires less sleep, enormous devotion, patience and consideration, all of which exacerbate the already stressful lives of middle-aged working adults who may already be inundated with their routines in the office. As well as the immediate difficulty, another worry is the potential generation gap as the next generation grows up. Adults over 50 years are usually reckoned to be more conservative and therefore less likely to share the values and mentality of their adolescent offspring.
　　However, the two problems mentioned above can be considered from an opposite angle. Back to the so-called work/life imbalance, rather than insufficient physical energy, what is neglected by the worried is the mental maturity and prowess exclusive to the middle-aged, who are more adept at dealing with various tasks simultaneously – many aspiring managers can also successfully fulfill the responsibility of a father or mother at home. Even in case when they cannot make both ends meet, these aged parents usually have higher incomes than their younger counterparts to afford extra help in caring and educating children. As for the possible generation gap caused by the disparity in age, I would see the life experience and sensibility of older parents as their unique strength in reading the sentiment of young minds, thus making them more persuasive in communication with their young charges.
　　In conclusion, it looks to me that the further disparity between age of two generations will have equally positive and detrimental effects, either in current or long-term perspectives.
