　　Students may be naturally uninterested in some school disciplines, and therefore a teacher’s job should not be limited to imparting the knowledge but include evoking [evoke] students’ desire to learn. 　　The first reason adopts a rather pragmatic view. If students fully understand that what they get from a subject can lead to a good salary, they are likely to put in time and energy in the subject for the sake of money. This motive should be well understood and recognized by teachers, and when teaching serves to fulfill this purpose, students will demonstrate motivation and passion. 　　This pragmatism may be criticized. Academia must consider the seeking of knowledge a noble cause and may strongly oppose the intent that is too down-to-earth and therefore feels utilitarian. It is perfectly justifiable for a professor to teach for the pursuit of the truth and the greater good of humanity. However, it may not be an ideal way of teaching when the purpose is to interest students, people whose mind is limited by their young age and whose practical needs outweigh honors.
