What kind( s) of transport do you usually use? - I usually use the subway, which is obviously the fastest and safest form of trans-port in Beijing. My living place is not far from the subway station and so is myoffice. I feel lucky of it. - The bus is what I use most frequently. I've got a student bus pass, which allows meto take any bus route in Beijing at an incredibly low price.
  2. For you, what are the benefits ( advantages ) of using that form of transportation? - The subway in Beijing is regular and at short interval, say, every 2 or 3 minutes. Sotaking the subway is the most convenient and guaranteed way to commute. Also,it's immune to bad weather or heavy traffic. - For me the long ride on the subway is an ideal time to read. I can manage about abook in a week if I read only on the subway. I'm far from alone. Most people in thetrain especially in the mornings all have their nose stuck into a book or newspaper. Ican also skim the news headlines from passengers around me.
  3. Do you ever ride a bicycle? - Yes, I do. My living place is only several miles from my office, so I ride a bicycle to work. - Yes, I do, but only for a very short distance. I ride a bicycle to the nearest subwaystation every morning, and then transfer to the subway to work. - No, never. I haven't ridden a bicycle for ages because there's no chance. I drive towork every morning.
  4. Are bicycles popular in China'' - Yes, they are. In most medium-sized cities and small towns, the bicycle is the maincommuting form because of its availability and flexibility. - No, not really, at least not in the big cities like Beijing or Shanghai. AlthoughChina used to be known as the Kingdom of Bicycle, this form of transport has lostits leading role. The main reason, I think, is the city expansion. For example, Bei-jing is too big for cycling.
  5. What kinds of people ride bicycles? - I suppose it's most elderly people. Driving or taking crowded buses is a bit difficultfor them, so riding a bicycle is the best way to travel. - The high school students often ride bicycles. They're old enough to safely ride bicy-cles on the roads and they usually want to get around the place.
  6. Do you think bicycles are suitable for people of all ages? - Yes, I think so. Riding bicycles doesn't require too much strength or skills. I thinkanyone who can walk effortlessly is able to ride a bicycle. - No, I don't think so. Bicycles are not for young children because it is dangerous onthe road.
  7. Has the number of bicycle riders in China changed much in the past few years? Yes, it really has. The number of cyclists has declined greatly especially in the bigcities. When I was a child each family owned two or three bicycles on averagebecause nearly every adult member rode a bicycle to work. But things are differentnowadays. They are being replaced by cars.
  8. How do most people travel to work in the place where you live? - Most people travel to work by the public traffic. The city has developed public traf-fic system. It offers the safest option. For most individuals, the public traffic ismore economical and efficient. - Most people in my city travel to work by bike. Riding a bike offers much personalmobility and freedom. In a medium-sized city like Tianjin, I think the bike is themost convenient mode.
  9. What traffic problems are there in your area? - I think like other cities, the biggest headache in my city is the traffic congestion. Itseems to have been more and more serious recently. Sometimes you have to wait forhalf an hour or even longer in the endless car line. - The traffic jam is obviously the greatest problem. In addition to that, increasingroad accidents have also become a headache. You can read or watch news on trafficaccidents nearly every day. 更多雅思考試資訊請(qǐng)進(jìn)入【廣州雅思英語(yǔ)】/member/ 更多雅思考試培訓(xùn)請(qǐng)進(jìn)入【廣州雅思培訓(xùn)】
