With the increase in the use of mobile phones and computers,,fewer people are writing people think that the traditional skill of writing letters will disappear completely. To what extent do you agree or disagree? How important do you think is letter-writing? It is true that with the ever increasing application of some modern means of communications in our daily lives, fewer and fewer people are now writing letters. While some people pessimistically believe that this traditional method of communicating with relatives and friends will all just disappear completely, I argue that this would not be true in the long run. Firstly, I would not challenge the fact that people are now communicating with one another mostly via these modern means of communications: through mobile phones, the Internet and so on. It is fast and effective. With a video-transmission device, people can even see what is going on at the other end. Yes, it is true that a short message sent via a mobile phone can let our folks know anything we want them to know all at once. But, there is something missing in it. It is the long awaited expectation of our folks and the immense warmth and affection enclosed in an envelope. People in their forties or over must know the value of a common home letter or a letter from a close friend. Ever since the day we mailed a letter out, we were expecting a return one. Even though we well knew that it would take about a week for the going and coming letters to complete a double trip, we went to check the mailbox every day! I still remember those moving moments I had experienced every time I went back to visit my parents: neatly piled up on the small table by their bedside were all the letters I wrote back to them! All those good news, bad ones, all that I had experienced and wanted to share with them were there! How beautiful it was! While we are now mass wholesaling our folks and friends festival greetings via mobile phones, or talking to them via E-mails or MSN, we are increasingly realizing the value and beauty of a handwritten letter. On a personal note, I appreciate a handwritten letter much more than an E-mail or mobile-phone short message for the simple reason that the sincere feeling as well as the kind of expectation and suspense sealed in the envelope is the most beautiful human affection that we actually treasure in heart. With all the advantages of letter writing mentioned above, we have every reason to believe that more and more people will gradually come back to this traditional way of communicating with others. Therefore, it will not just disappear.
